Make Your Own Power Bars

Make Your Own Power Bars

Make homemade power bars for a healthy, on-the-go snack. Homemade power bars can contain almost anything. Add chocolate, fruit, cereal, flavor extracts and seeds to make the bars. Swap out ingredients in the recipe to fit your tastes. The peanut butter holds it all together, but you can swap that out with apple butter or almond butter. Experiment with different combinations for different tastes. To get the most energy from the bar, include plenty of carbohydrates and natural sugars.

Instructions

1. Combine the peanut butter, honey and vanilla extract in a large bowl.

2. Mix in the sunflower seeds, dried fruit, sesame seeds and coconut. You can substitute ingredients. For example, use pumpkin seeds instead of sunflower seeds.

3. Mix in the cereal.

4. Grease the cake pan with olive oil cooking spray. Olive oil is healthier than other types of oil.

5. Use a rubber spatula to spread the mixture in the cake pan.

6. Refrigerate until hard. Cut into bar shapes.
