Brazilian Restaurants In Boise Idaho

Boise is the capital of Idaho and renowned as a tourist base from which to explore the state's outdoor attractions, including the Boise National Forest, a stretch of 2,612,000 acres of forest to the northeast of the city. The city has one Brazilian restaurant, Tucanos, which is located at 1388 South Entertainment Ave., one mile south of the Boise Town Plaza.

Tucanos Brazilian Grill

Tucanos is part of a chain of Brazilian restaurants that has properties in Boise, Salt Lake City and Provo, Utah, and Albuquerque, N.M. The menu is based around the Brazilian tradition of grilling called Churrasco, which is a style of cooking that incorporates South American and European influences. The dishes served include picanha, or top sirloin, linguica, a type of Brazilian sausage and Peru, which is turkey wrapped in bacon. The menu also features a selection of meat and seafood skewers. The restaurant's signature drink is the caipirinha -- Brazil's national drink -- a cocktail made from Cachaca liquor, fresh limes and sugar.

Features

Tucanos operates a system called the "cue," which is a type of marker used by the customer to indicate to the servers when to bring entrees to the table. Placed on each table, the green side means the customer wants more entree selections, while the red side means the customer is finished with entrees and is ready to move on to the next course. Tucanos is open Monday to Thursday, 11 a.m.-10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Gift certificates can be purchased in person or online, and the restaurant runs a birthday club that rewards members with free meals. Tucanos also provides a catering service for parties, weddings and special occasions.

History and customs

Churrasco is a type of barbecue that originated in the Pampas region of southern Brazil before taking root across the country. In keeping with the traditions of this simply prepared cuisine, and to make the experience as authentic as possible, Tucanos uses fresh meats and vegetables, which are seasoned and then cooked on skewers over open-flame grills. The skewers are brought immediately to the table.
