Make Scrumpy Cider

Are you looking for a drink that none of your friends know about? Then this British drink, Scrumpy Cider, is the one you should try! It is a unique blend of spices and fruits that has been enjoyed in England for years.

Instructions

1. Cup the unpeeled apples into small pieces.

2. Place the apples in a pot of boiling water. Be sure that the water covers all of the apples.

3. Put the mixture aside for 2 weeks. Return to the mixture every so often to crush the apples. Watch out for mold.

4. Drain the liquid into a bowl and mix in the ginger root, lemon juice and sugar.

5. Stir the mixture until the sugar dissolves.

6. Add 1/2 cup of boiling water to the mixture. Place the mixture aside again for another 2 weeks. During that period, check the mixture every night and remove any scum that forms at the top.

7. Pour the mixture into the bottles and seal the tops tightly. The tops should be sealed to the point where you can still unscrew them. Set the bottles aside for 2 days.

8. Completely tighten the tops. Put them in a cool, dark and dry place for the next 2 months.

9. Enjoy with friends or for a special occasion at the end of the 2 months or later.
