Build Above Ground Ponds For Fish

If you want the joy of a koi or goldfish filled pond without digging into your lawn or garden, consider above ground ponds for fish. Building above ground ponds for fish can be easier than digging an actual water garden. Focus on sturdy construction and permanence when deciding where and build your backyard pond.


Instructions


1. Plan where you want above ground ponds for fish to be in your yard. This could be in your garden or on a deck or patio. Be sure the location is strong enough to hold up a pond and that the surface is flat since relatively smooth. Marked out the dimensions of the above ground ponds for fish where you intend to build it.


2. Stack of bricks or stones blocks as directed by the manufacturer in your rectangle or square shape. Masonry adhesive, cement or other materials should be used to attach them firmly to each other. If you are using timbers, stack them in the same shape and attach them to each other with brackets and bolts. You want to build a wall at least 1 foot high but preferably 2 feet tall if you want to keep fish in the water garden.


3. Lay the flexible pond liner in the rectangular structure you just built. Smooth it out by folding the corners on themselves and overlapping the liner on the top layer of the above ground ponds for fish wall. You can use adhesive to attach this as well.


4. Use stones, more brick or masonry blocks or additional timbers to the above ground ponds for fish wall. This will hide the edge of the flexible pond liner. Position the filter and pump and fountain apparatus in the above ground ponds for fish you build. Fill the pond with water and turn everything on.
