Make Tomato Juice Using Fresh Garden Tomatoes

Pick your own garden fresh tomatoes and make your own juice.

Growing your own vegetables protects you from chemicals and additives from processed food. Food fresh from the garden has maximum nutritional value, a boon to your family's health. In addition, growing your own vegetables saves you money. Tomatoes are one fruit that many people include in their gardens. Besides being easy to grow and nutritious, tomatoes are versatile. You can use them in sauces, salads and even as a main dish. One easy way to get the nutritional benefits of tomatoes daily is to make tomato juice with your fresh garden tomatoes.

Instructions

1. Choose the ripest tomatoes for your fresh juice.

Pick ripe tomatoes from your garden. Ripe tomatoes will be red and soft. If your tomatoes are not quite ripe, let them ripen on your windowsill for a few days.

2. Wash your fresh garden tomatoes. Remove the core, then cut the tomatoes into quarters.

3. Fill the pot up with water and set to boil. When the water is at a full boil, put in the tomatoes. Leave them in for 3 minutes and then remove them to a bowl to cool. When the tomatoes have cooled, remove and discard their skins.

4. Put the skinless tomatoes into the food processor. Add salt, pepper and any other seasonings. Using the pulse setting, blend the tomatoes until they are completely liquefied except for the seeds.

5. Pour the juice into the pitcher using the strainer. This should remove the majority of the seeds -- if not, do not be concerned. The remaining seeds will not harm you or detract from the flavor of the juice.
