Grind Peanuts Into Peanut Butter

Elevate a plain PB and J with homemade peanut butter.

Just as freshly ground pepper tastes better than pre-ground, canned pepper, nothing matches the rich flavors of homemade peanut butter. Making your own peanut butter gives you control over the ingredients that go into it. Using roasted peanuts and peanut oil boost the flavor of the peanut butter. Homemade peanut butter will add a new, fresh dimension to all of your peanut butter recipes.

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit.

2. Spread the raw, shelled peanuts on the baking sheet in a single layer.

3. Roast the peanuts for 7 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned and fragrant.

4. Remove the baking sheet and cool the peanuts completely before processing into butter.

5. Add the peanuts into the work bowl of a food processor with 1 tbsp. of the peanut oil.

6. Pulse the food processor several times to grind the peanuts into a coarse meal.

7. Turn the food processor on low speed to continuously run. Drizzle in 1 to 2 tbsp. peanut oil slowly through the chute of the food processor to thin the peanut paste into a butter with the desired consistency.

8. Add the optional salt and/or sugar to the peanut butter while processing on low speed to combine.

9. Use immediately and store leftovers tightly covered in the refrigerator for up to three months.
