Store Fresh Mint

No matter what you plan to use it for, you may be wondering how exactly to go about storing your fresh mint. And with the price of any fresh herb today, it's a very good and valid question. Hey, if money grew on trees, most of us would have a whole orchard in our back yard. But, since that isn't possible, you may want to take a look at the steps below for some fairly easy storage tips to make your mint last longer.

Instructions

Paper Towel Method

1. Wrap your fresh mint in a damp paper towel, making sure that it is not soaking wet. If you drench your towel with too much water, just gently wring it out before wrapping the mint.

2. Place the wrapped mint in a plastic bag. The plastic bag should be large enough to not crush the leaves. Seal the bag.

3. Place the plastic bag in your refrigerator. Usually, you would want to avoid placing it in the crisper, but if your fridge is set at a fairly cool setting, go ahead and put it in one of those drawers.

4. Store for upwards of two weeks.

Jar Method

5. Fill the jar about half full with water.

6. Place the stems of the mint into to the jar, making sure that each clipped end is submerged.

7. Place a plastic bag over the mint and jar. You needn't secure it since this method will require some air to reach the plant.

8. Place the jar in the refrigerator.

9. Change the water every two to three days.

10. Store for upwards of two weeks.
