Make Gum

Gum is a chewy, sticky substance that people of all different ages enjoy. Making gum at home is an activity that is fairly easy to do and one that the whole family can enjoy. Become the candy man and distribute the gum to your friends and family.

Instructions

1. Combine ingredients into a bowl leaving out the powdered sugar and flavoring. Stir ingredients and place into the microwave on high heat for one minute. Continue heating and stirring until the gum base melts and the mixture is gooey.

2. Add the flavoring of your choice to the gum base when removed from the microwave.

3. Take a 1/4 cup of powdered sugar and spread it on the table, making a pit in the center. Take your bowl of ingredients and pour it into the pit of sugar.

4. Knead the gum base and sugar together continually adding more powdered sugar if the dough gets gooey. Mix the dough until all the sugar gets in. This usually takes around 15 minutes to do.

5. Lay out the dough and slice it into small 1/2 inch pieces. If you prefer sticks of gum, use a rolling pin to flatten the dough and use scissors to cut the pieces.

6. Apply a light coating of powdered sugar to the pieces of gum and enjoy.
