Serve Blueberries


Blueberries are bountiful in July and August. If you buy them or if you're lucky enough to pick your own, there are a multitude of easy ways to serve the succulent little berries. Blueberries are a special treat not only because they taste good, but also because they're full of antioxidants and vitamins. Here are some great ways to share and enjoy blueberries.


Instructions


1. Sprinkle a few blueberries over a chunk of brie cheese and heat it in the oven or microwave. Serve the blueberries and brie hot with crackers or pieces of toasted French bread.








2. Stir ? cup of blueberries into your favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe and bake as usual for a chocolately berry treat.


3. Combine a couple of graham crackers and a little bit of milk or cream with a handful of blueberries. Sprinkle some cinnamon and sugar over the top and you have a quick and delicious dessert or snack.








4. Enjoy blueberries with breakfast. Fold a few blueberries into your favorite pancake batter and pour them on a griddle or in a frying pan for delicious blueberry pancakes. Toss a few blueberries on your favorite hot or cold breakfast cereal. Blueberries are delicious when stirred into plain or vanilla yogurt, or piled into a halved cantaloupe.


5. Blend a handful of blueberries with yogurt and 1 tbsp. of protein powder for a healthy energy drink or snack, or put a small handful of frozen berries into a bottle of sparkling water for a summer cooler.


6. Serve tossed salad with a few colorful blueberries sprinkled over the top. This is especially good with a tangy vinaigrette dressing.


7. Lightly mash a cup of blueberries and stir in some sugar and a squeeze of lemon juice for a quick ice cream or frozen yogurt topping. Simply mix the ingredients and bring them to boil in a small saucepan. Chill and serve.
