Make A Classic Three Bean Salad

Three bean salad is often served on deli spreads.

The classic three bean salad is a family favorite. This tasty side dish is packed with fiber and protein. Mix up a three bean salad for a picnic or bring it to a party.

Instructions

1. Prepare and wash the beans. During the washing process, remove stems and break beans into 1/2-inch pieces. Skip this step if using frozen beans.

2. Steam the wax beans in the microwave for 5 to 6 minutes.

3. For dry chickpeas and kidney beans, rinse well in cold water. Place chickpeas and kidney beans in separate medium saucepans with 6 cups water each. Bring to a rapid boil. Continue to boil for 60 to 70 minutes with occasional stirring. For canned chickpeas and kidney beans (which are already cooked), simply drain and rinse with cold water.

4. In a large serving bowl mix together green beans, kidney beans, chickpeas, steamed wax beans, onion and green pepper.

5. In small bowl mix together the dressing ingredients. Pour over bean mixture.
