Homemade Wedding Favors Using Pecans

Shelled pecans or whole pecan can be used in wedding favors

While many new brides and grooms often give more generic gifts as wedding favors, favors that relate to the bride and groom and reflect their interests and backgrounds are the ones remembered by guests for years to come. Couples from the south may enjoy providing guests with pecan-themed gifts to celebrate their homes and backgrounds.

Edible Gifts

Edible favors that use pecans in their construction include homemade turtle candies, miniature pecan pies, giant slices of pecan pie wrapped in cellophane tied with colorful grosgrain ribbon, large pecan sandy cookies in elegant wrapping, bags of candied pecans, wrapped pecan candies, elegantly wrapped bags of shelled or whole pecans and miniature chocolate pecan chess pies.

Decorative Gifts

Decorative gifts such as silver, glass, or wooden nut bowls can be filled with whole or shelled pecans and wrapped in cellophane tied with ribbon. Cut or smooth glass jars, Mason jars with lids and small candy dishes can be filled with candied pecans.

Family Tradition Gifts

Couples that have special recipes in their families using pecans can create sentimental recipe gifts for wedding favors. A pecan pie or pecan cookie recipe card along with a small story explaining the origin and use of the recipe can be attached to a bag of shelled pecans dressed with a large bow. Additionally, sweet salad dressing recipes can be attached to bags of candied pecans or pecan shortbread cookies can be presented with the recipe attached.
