Make Green Beans Taste Good

One of the biggest challenges at meal time is make vegetables taste good, particularly for children. Green vegetables can be the hardest to deal with, especially green beans. One of the easiest techniques for this is to use spices or add other ingredients to the dish to make it interesting and tasty instead of just a plate of plain green beans. Read on for some suggestions.

Instructions

1. Use spices to add depth of flavor and to give the beans a new twist. Lemon pepper, a bit of orange zest or beef bouillon can change the flavor of the beans into something that is completely different and more appealing.

2. Add other items to the beans. Almonds, butter, dried cherries or cranberries or bacon bits will change the complexion of your green beans. They add crunch or chewy texture and some of these ingredients will give the beans a sweet taste.

3. Make green beans almondine. Add sliced almonds and a little salt and fresh cracked pepper. It is a very simple dish and tastes great.

4. Add caramelized sweet onions to the green beans with a little Splenda to make a sweet flavorful dish.

5. Use green beans in a side dish recipe. Make your green beans in the old time favorite, green bean casserole. The flavor of the beans blends with other ingredients to yield a more complex dish. Try adding some of the items from steps one and two into the casserole to make your family's own version.
