Make Flaky Empanadas

Empanadas are a wonderful appetizer for your meal.

Many countries have different versions of empanadas, but all carry the same basic concept -- a bread pastry filled with meats or vegetables. Empanadas do not have to be as hard as you would imagine. With the right ingredients, you can have a filling with wonderful flavor and a flaky crust. Eat the empanadas in salsa, sour cream, guacamole, nacho cheese, or whatever dip you enjoy.

Instructions

1. Brown the ground beef with garlic powder and paprika in the pan over medium heat.

2. Drain the beef in the colander.

3. Place the meat back in the pan and stir in chopped green chilies.

4. Unroll both pie crusts and use the knife to cut each into four wedges.

5. Spoon 2 tablespoons of the meat mixture over half of each wedge.

6. Top hamburger mixture with 1 tablespoon of cheese on each wedge.

7. Preheat oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit. Brush the edges of the wedges with water and fold over, pinching edges together.

8. Spray cookie sheet with cooking spray and place wedges on sheet.

9. Place cookie sheet in oven and bake 12 to 17 minutes, or until golden brown.

10. Cut each wedge in half and serve with desired dips.
