Hummus Facial Remedies For Age Spots

Age spots are an unfortunate reality for most men and women. They appear as small brown marks on the body and can also be accredited to exposure to UV rays and not wearing proper protection while out in the sun. While it can be difficult to remove age spots completely, hummus masks (ground garbanzo beans) are a natural treatment that will minimize their appearance.

Hummus Mask

Purchase garbanzo beans, preferably from a can. Place about 20 of them on a plate. Use a fork, whisk or other object to mash them up until they appear thick and pasty, like hummus. Add 1 tbsp. of water and stir until the concoction forms a paste. Spread it on your skin and leave on until it dries. Wipe off with warm water.

Mango Hummus Mask

Mash 1 oz. of mangoes until they are totally pulverized. Add 1 oz. of hummus. (It can be homemade or store bought, but it should be plain and without additives such as garlic.) Add 1 tsp. of milk and 1 tsp. of honey (these soften the skin). Stir until the mask has formed a paste. Spread it on your face, concentrating on the age spots. Leave on for 30 minutes and then wash off with warm water to open your pores. Follow by rinsing your face with cold water to close them.

Mask for Acne Scarring or Age Spots

Hummus can also be used to brighten dark spots caused by acne, so this recipe will help with both age spots and acne spots. Purchase plain or garlic hummus (garlic is a natural antibiotic, and it works best if you're putting on the mask to reduce acne or dark spots caused by acne). Mix 2 tbsp. of flour, wheat germ or ground oatmeal with a 1/2 cup of hummus to thicken. Stir until it has become a paste. Spread this on your face and leave on for 20 minutes, and then remove with warm water.
