Make Candied Pickles

Candied pickles recipes have been passed down for generations in some families. These sweet little treats are great any time of year and also make wonderful gifts. They are easy to make and can be prepared in about 15 minutes. The hardest part may be having to wait five days to taste this delightful creation. The finished product can be stored in the refrigerator and enjoyed for months.


Instructions


1. Drain and slice pickles. Pickles can be sliced length-wise or in circular slices. Discard the juice.


2. Divide spices and garlic into equal portions and sew or tie them into little bags. Spice bags can be made from coffee filters, cheesecloth or mesh material.


3. Place alternate layers of pickles, spices and sugar in a container made of glass, porcelain or plastic.


4. Sprinkle vinegar over the top and allow to stand at room temperature for five days.


5. Stir pickles once per day.








6. After five days ,remove the spices and store pickles in refrigerator. Pickles will stay fresh for several months.
