Make Hot Sauce Really Hot

When hot sauce is not hot enough, it is possible to make it hotter.

When making hot sauce, you might find that your personal taste requires something a little hotter. Maybe the flavor just isn't enough or the sauce is lacking in some way. Fortunately, adding spice, peppers and chilies to the sauce will add to the heat while not requiring too much extra effort. You can experiment with different chilies and peppers to find your optimal hot sauce flavor and level of heat.

Instructions

1. Add one to two teaspoons of red pepper powder to the sauce. If your hot sauce is just not spicy enough, adding powdered red pepper will give it a kick without requiring you to do more than mix it in. The powder is very fine, so it mixes into the sauce without creating any chunks.

2. Chop up some green chilies. Use any preferred type. For the small green chilies, add between four and six. For larger, add only one or two. Once chopped, crush it to release the juices by turning the knife and pressing downward or putting it in a mortar and crushing it with a pestle. Keep the seeds in the chilies. The seeds add an extra punch of hot flavor.

3. Repeat the chopping and crushing with some red chilies of any preferred type. Add these to the sauce and mix well.
