Make Candied Almonds

Almonds are a nutritional powerhouse, because they help prevent cancer and lower cholesterol. Plus, they come packed with protein, vitamin E and calcium. If plain almonds are too bland for your taste, try making candied almonds that you can toss in salads, add to yogurt or just snack on during the day.

Instructions

1. Place the almonds on a baking sheet and set them into a cold oven.

2. Turn the temperature to 350 degrees F, and roast the almonds about 15 to 20 minutes. Stir the almonds occasionally, throughout the cooking process, so they brown evenly on all sides. Turn off the oven and remove the almonds.

3. Cook a mixture of honey and butter over medium heat on the stove top, until it boils.

4. Simmer the mixture over low heat for 2 minutes more. Add the roasted almonds and simmer several minutes.

5. Spread the almonds onto wax paper to cool slightly.

6. Pour the sugar in a bowl and dump in the almonds. Toss until the almonds are well coated.

7. Store candied almonds in an airtight container.
