Instructions
If Your Battery Has a Reset Button
1. While using your laptop, allow the battery to run down completely. Save your work to the hard drive or a memory stick so that it doesn't get lost once the computer dies.
2. Plug in your laptop and allow it to charge for approximately one hour without turning on the computer.
3. Hold down the Power button on the computer and the reset button on the battery simultaneously. The reset button can be held down with the tip of a pen or a straightened paper clip. Lights will go on and then off.
4. Release the buttons and turn on your computer.
5. Allow the battery to charge completely.
If Your Battery Doesn't Have a Reset Button
6. Use the computer and let the battery run down completely.
7. Plug in the computer and let the battery fully recharge without turning on the computer.
8. If Steps 1 and 2 do not work, you can download power-manager software designed for resetting a laptop battery. It's important to follow the instructions exactly, as the software is meant to be used by professionals.
