Put Salt On The Outside Of A Baked Potato

Get the perfect baked potato without the expense of eating out.

If you want to achieve that extra zest of restaurant baked potatoes, you will be happy to know that it does not take much effort. Although many people throw their baked potatoes in the oven as-is without a second thought, there is a mouth-watering benefit to coating the skin with a bit of salt.

Instructions

1. Wash the outside of each potato thoroughly. Since you will be eating the skin of the potato, make sure to get any dirt off before baking.

2. Coat the skin of each baked potato in olive oil. Rub the oil in, ensuring that the entire potato is covered.

3. Salt the potatoes with sea salt or kosher salt. These types of salts work best because of their coarseness. You can sprinkle as little or as much salt as you desire.

4. Stick a fork in the top of your potatoes a few times to allow for steam to escape, otherwise your potatoes are in danger of exploding in the oven.

5. Place your potatoes in an oven that has been preheated to 400 degrees. Put the potatoes directly on the rack and bake for about 45 minutes.
