Save Wine Labels

Sometimes multiple techniques need to be attempted due to varying wine label adhesives.

There are several reasons why someone would want to save wine labels. Keepsakes and scrapbooking are two of the most common. Whatever the reason, you must first be able to remove the wine label in one piece, which can be tricky without the right technique. The main problem people run into is that wine bottles use different types of adhesive, meaning various methods usually have to be employed in order to remove a label. Luckily, it is possible for most people to remove wine labels when following a few steps.

Instructions

1. Place a hairdryer on a high setting and point it at the wine label. Keep it a few inches away from the label for approximately 5 minutes.

2. Scrape up one corner of the wine label using a razor blade. Carefully grab the edge of the label with two fingers and slowly pull back.

3. Fill the empty, uncorked wine bottle with water and place it into a sink filled with lukewarm water if the hairdryer method didn't work. This will keep the bottle anchored under water.

4. Allow the label to remain submerged for approximately 10 minutes. This should loosen up the adhesive on the label.

5. Dry the bottle off with a towel and scrape up one corner of the label once more. Again slowly pull the label back until it has been completely removed.
