Make Drinks With Whiskey

Whiskey is a classic alcoholic drink, and this is not only because of its warm and rich taste, but also because of its versatility. Whiskey can be made into many drinks. By adding the right mixer and at the right amount, you can replicate a favorite whiskey drink from the recipe. It's even possible to create your own cocktail. Common drinks mixed with whiskey include cola, soda, Irish cream, tonic water, schnapps, rum and tequila.

Instructions

1. Get the recipe for the whiskey drink you wish to make.

2. Measure out the appropriate amount of whiskey with a jigger into a rock glass. A jigger is a graduated cup for measuring out whiskey in bars. Any other graduated cup will do.

3. Add the recommended amount of the mixer to the whiskey.

4. Drop in ice cubes in the mixture. Five ice cubes are about the limit, but the drink recipe will state how many is appropriate for the quantity of whiskey. Remember, too many ice cubes will dilute the taste of the whiskey.

5. Stir the mixture to make a cocktail. Make the stir stick or teaspoon go all the way down to the bottom of the glass. Stirring blends the whiskey with the mixer and keeps them from settling into distinct layers.

6. Add a lime or lemon wedge if desired. This is done by cutting the lime or lemon in two or nicking it or cutting a slice of the fruit. Wedge this on the rim of the rock glass. The citrus flavor contrasts splendidly with the taste of whiskey.
