Simple Halloween Food Ideas

Use a bat cookie cutter to make Halloween sandwiches.

Make a quick meal as dark as Halloween. Black bread and black beans make up this easy Halloween meal you can have on the table within 30 minutes. Recipes can be increased to serve a crowd for a Halloween party or potluck.

Bat Sandwiches

Spread eight slices of pumpernickel bread with a thin layer of cream cheese. Finely chop 10 to 12 green olives with pimento and divide evenly over four slices, and top with the other four. Use a bat-shaped cookie cutter to cut the sandwiches into bat shapes. Serve.

Black Soup

Combine 2 (15 to 16 oz.) cans drained black beans, 1 (14 1/2 oz.) can low sodium chicken broth, 1/2 cup salsa, 1 tbsp. chili powder and 1/2 tsp. cinnamon in a saucepan and heat through. Simmer for 20 to 30 minutes, until it thickens. Serve with sour cream, lime slices and tortilla chips, if desired.

Alien Milk

Add 6 to 8 drops of blue food coloring to a clear glass of milk and stir for an instant otherworldly beverage.
