All kids love chicken strips, so what better way to make kids and health conscious moms happy than by creating delicious vegetarian chicken strips using TVP? TVP (Texturized Vegetable Protein) is made from soybeans and is a protein-packed, low fat and cholesterol-free meat substitute. Making vegetarian TVP chicken strips is fast and easy and this article shows you how in a few short steps.

Instructions

Make TVP Into Vegetarian Chicken Strips

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.

2. Combine the vegetarian chicken bouillon granules, poultry seasoning, and celery seed in a medium saucepan. Stir in 1 cup of water. Add TVP granules. Heat the mixture to boil over medium heat.

3. Boil mixture for 1 minute. Remove from heat and let stand for 15 to 20 minutes.

4. Combine bread crumbs, garlic powder, pepper, and salt in a small bowl or plate. Place the bowl to the side.

5. Place the TVP mixture into a bowl with 1/8 cup of flour. Combine, slowly adding more flour by the tablespoon until consistency is firm.

6. Remove the TYP mixture from the bowl and place it on a cutting board. Using a rolling pin or your hands, flatten the TVP to 1 to 1 ½ inch thickness. Using a knife or your hands, cut or shape the TVP into chicken-strip-like pieces.

7. Dip the TVP chicken strips into the bowl containing the bread crumb mixture, thoroughly coating the pieces.

8. Place TVP chicken strips onto a greased baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes.

9. Serve TVP chicken strips with dipping sauces such as ranch, honey mustard, or barbecue.
