Make Tomato Soap

Make homemade tomato soap to soothe your skin.

Use naturally made tomato soap to soothe your skin. Oily skin especially benefits from the use of tomato-based cosmetic and bath products. With the addition of lemon essential oil for an astringent effect, this soap is ideal for everyday use. Look for most of the supplies needed in a craft store and your kitchen cupboard.

Instructions

1. Cut the melt-and-pour soap base into 1-inch chunks. Place in a glass measuring cup.

2. Put the glass measuring cup with the soap chunks in the microwave. Melt in one-minute intervals until the soap is melted. Remove from microwave. Stir with a wooden spoon.

3. Add the lemon essential oil, tomato juice and red wine vinegar. Stir in with the wooden spoon until completely incorporated.

4. Allow the soap to cool off slightly for a few minutes. Add the baking soda and stir in well with the wooden spoon.

5. Place the plastic soap mold on a flat surface. Pour the melted soap mixture into one section of the soap mold. Allow to harden completely.

6. Remove the soap from the mold. Allow to air dry for at least 24 hours to fully harden.

7. Wrap in cellophane or in decorative papers and tie with ribbon.
