Make Chocolate Chips

Chocolate chips go very well in many baked goods: cookies, cakes, brownies, mixes and even some breads can all be made a little sweeter with the addition of these small, savory little snacks. Making your own chocolate chips allows you to tailor the taste and look of the chips exactly to your liking. It's easy to make this simple and tasty ingredient.

Instructions

Make Chocolate Chips

1. Melt the baking chocolate by one of two methods. Either use a double boiler method by putting the chocolate in a heat-safe bowl in a saucepan above a few inches of simmering water; or put the chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl and melt it on medium power until the chocolate is soft. Remove the chocolate from the microwave and stir to allow the chocolate to finish melting.

2. Drop dollops of melted chocolate onto the baking sheet. These drops can be made as small or as large as preferable; and make sure that the drops are far enough away from each other so that they do not touch.

3. Place the baking sheet with the chocolate chips on it in the refrigerator. Depending on the thickness of the chips, they should harden within a few minutes to about an hour.
