Cook With Phyllo

Appetizers can be a wonderful treat and a great addition to any meal. However, they're often time-consuming to prepare. Phyllo dough takes away the difficulty of creating a beautiful appetizer without loosing any of the flavor or homemade flare. Use these simple steps to help get you started on your journey of cooking with phyllo dough.

Instructions

1. Allow the phyllo dough to thaw in the refrigerator overnight or for at least six hours.

2. Roll out the phyllo dough onto a clean and dry surface, cover with plastic wrap and top with a damp towel. This keeps the dough from getting hard or cracked on the edges so don't leave the dough uncovered for more than one minute.

3. Butter the edges with melted butter using a basting brush and working your way from the outside edge to the middle.

4. Layer another phyllo sheet on the top of the first and repeat Step 3. Continue layering and buttering until you layer at least five sheets of phyllo.

5. Cut the phyllo sheets in squares or circles, depending on your recipe, and place them in buttered muffin tins. Bake at 350 degrees F for eight to ten minutes or until golden brown.

6. Fill the cooled phyllo circles or squares with prepared filling and serve. If you're not ready to serve them, simply re-heat them when you are.
