Make Fried Oreos

Americans can fry just about anything, including Oreo cookies. Fried Oreos are part of the carnival/county fair offerings along with funnel cakes and corn dogs. A home version can be made in under an hour, but don't offer them to anyone on a diet. You don't really want to know how many calories, fat grams and carbs are in this recipe.

Instructions

1. Measure the dry pancake mix into la arge bowl. Crack the egg and stir it into the mix.

2. Slowly add 1 cup of milk a little at a time, stirring after each addition. Stir in 2 tsp. vegetable oil.

3. Pour oil into the deep fryer up to fill line. If using a saucepan, use enough oil to cover the Oreos completely and allow them to float freely. Heat the oil to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.

4. Dip the Oreos in the batter and turn them just until they are completely coated.

5. Fry the Oreos in small batches (4 to 5 cookies at a time) for 1 to 2 minutes or until they are golden brown and puffy. Remove them from the oil with a slotted spoon or spatula and let them dry on a plate covered with paper towels to soak up any grease.

6. Dust the Oreos with powdered sugar. Eat them while they are still warm.
