Directions For Frozen Potato Skins

Serve heated potato skins with a dipping sauce.

Potato skins are often prepared as appetizers or snacks. The this tasty treat consists of slices of potato that still have the skin intact on one side. The other side has a small amount of fleshy potato. The potato side of the dish often will have cheddar, bacon and even sour cream liberally put on top of it. Instead of preparing the potato skins on the day that you need them, make the potato skins ahead of time and freeze them. After you freeze the potato skins, they can be reheated in an oven to cook because they do not need to be defrosted.

Instructions

1. Prepare the potato skins according to your recipe. Omit the sour cream topping because it separates when frozen, which will ruin the texture of the sour cream when served after freezing.

3. Wrap the potato skins in plastic wrap or aluminum foil. Store them in an airtight freezer bag for 1 week for best results. You can freeze the skins for up to 1 month, but they will diminish in quality.
