Drizzle teriyaki sauce over salmon for extra flavor.
Teriyaki sauce can add a burst of tangy flavor to dishes such as grilled vegetables and even cheeseburgers. It is fairly simple to prepare and readily available in most grocery stores. Depending on your taste and your intended use, however, you may find that your teriyaki sauce, whether homemade or purchased, is too thin. When this occurs you thicken your teriyaki sauce. This process takes only a few minutes and allows you to make the sauce dramatically thicker.
Instructions
1. Measure the teriyaki sauce you wish to thicken with measuring cups, then pour it into a pan or saucepan large enough to hold it easily.
2. Bring the teriyaki sauce to a boil over medium-high heat. Meanwhile, mix 1 to 1 1/2 tbsp. of cornstarch with 1/4 cup of water. Stir well with a fork to completely combine the cornstarch with the water.
3. Pour the cornstarch and water mixture into the simmering teriyaki sauce, and stir well with a wooden spoon to combine. It may seem counterintuitive to add extra liquid when the goal is to thicken the sauce, but the cornstarch is strong enough to make up for the added liquid.
4. Stir the teriyaki sauce mixture constantly until it returns to a boil and becomes thick. Remove from the heat, then use as desired.
