Instructions

Preparation

1. Soften cream cheese at room temperature prior to mixing. Add chopped onions and bell peppers to the cheese and mix completely. Gradually add shredded Parmesan cheese and then blend thoroughly. Add crabmeat, ham, roast beef or other vegetables, such as tomatoes, to enhance the color and flavor of this basic pinwheel recipe.

2. Combine dry mustard, parsley and garlic powder in a small bowl before adding to the cheese mixture. Add fresh lemon juice and blend until mixture is smooth.

3. Choose large flour tortillas or flatten other bread such as loaf breads with the crusts removed. Tortillas come in several different flavors and colors. Spinach-flavored tortillas add a unique flavor and green color.

4. Place tortillas flat on your work surface. Divide the cream cheese mixture evenly among each tortilla. Use a spoon to add the mixture to the tortilla. Be sure not to spread the mixture too thin to avoid pinwheels that are too small and flat.

5. Begin on one side and roll up each tortilla tightly making sure the cream cheese mixture is evenly distributed. Wrap each filled and rolled tortilla in plastic wrap. Refrigerate for approximately two hours. Remove plastic wrap and cut the pinwheels into bite-sized pieces. Serve on a plate with the swirl design visible.
