Red Clam Sauce Recipes

Clam sauce can be made in both white and red. The red clam sauce is traditionally served over various types of pasta. You don't have to wait to order this sauce at a restaurant. There are some fabulous recipes that are very easy to make at home. Then you can choose the type of pasta you prefer to serve it over.


Recipe #1


Heat 3 tbsp. of extra virgin olive oil in a skillet. While the oil is heating up, finely chop 2 cloves of garlic. Add the garlic to the pan and saute for two to three minutes. Then add one 4-oz. can of minced clams, one 6-oz. can of tomato sauce, 3 chopped tomatoes, 2 tbsp. of tomato paste, a dash of salt, a dash of pepper and 1 cup of red wine to the skillet. Bring the ingredients to a simmer while stirring. Cook for 30 minutes and serve over a plate of pasta.


Recipe #2


Get out your cutting board and cup up 8 cloves of garlic, 2 cups of onions, 1 green bell pepper, and 1 1/2 cups of mushrooms. Heat 2 tbsp. of extra virgin olive oil and 2 tbsp. of water in a saucepan. Then add the chopped ingredients and cover. Turn the heat down to medium low and cook until the onions begin to turn clear. Open the lid and add 24 oz. of minced clams, 1/4 tsp. of pepper, 1/4 tsp. of crushed red pepper flakes, 1 tsp. of basil, 1 tsp. of oregano, one 15-oz. can of tomato sauce, and one 6-oz. can of tomato paste. Stir until combined and then place the lid back on the saucepan. Turn the heat setting down to low and cook for 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.








Recipe #3


Pour 1/4 cup of extra virgin olive oil in a skillet and heat on the low setting. Add 4 chopped cloves of garlic and stir around for 60 seconds. Then add 2/3 cup dry white wine, 1/8 tsp. of crushed red pepper flakes, and 1/2 tsp. of thyme. Stir together and cook for five minutes. Now add one 28-oz. can of crushed tomatoes, 8 oz. clam juice, and three dashes of salt. Bring the heat up to medium low and cook for another 10 minutes. You can now throw in your final ingredients. You need 1 lb. of clams chopped into tiny pieces, 1/4 tsp. of pepper, and 1/3 cup of chopped parsley. Stir these final ingredients together and cook for two or three minutes and then serve over some linguine.
