Make Healthy Calamari Steaks

Serve a fresh calamari steak.

If you're familiar with calamari as a deep-fried appetizer served with tartar sauce or cocktail sauce, expand your horizons with calamari steaks. This fresh steak should never taste fishy. Buy it at a reputable fish monger or butcher to ensure you're receiving a fresh, not pre-frozen steak. The calamari takes only a few minutes to grill or broil. Prepare the sauce in advance so that it is ready to place on the quickly-cooked steaks.

Instructions

1. Turn the barbecue on to a high heat. If you are not using a barbecue, turn the broiler to high.

2. Put the cilantro, parsley, olive oil, lemon juice, cayenne pepper, garlic and paprika in food processor. Grind to a paste.

3. Wash the calamari steaks and pat dry. Place the steaks on the barbecue or under the broiler for 2 minutes on each side.

4. Remove the steaks from the cooking surface and coat with the spice mixture. Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the steaks and serve immediately.
