Keep Velveeta Melted

To keep Velveeta melted, turn it into a slightly thinned sauce.

Velveeta is a brand name for processed cheese. This type of cheese has many advantages for use in recipes because it melts smoother and does not separate or become stringy. For making dips, fondues or sauces with Velveeta, it is important to keep the cheese melted, but it can begin to solidify as it cools, unless you add an extra ingredient to the melted cheese to thin it out and keep it pourable.

Instructions

1. Cut 1/2 lb. Velveeta into cubes.

2. Add the cubes of Velveeta and 1/4 cup milk to a slow cooker.

3. Heat the cheese and milk on high heat in the slow cooker until melted. Stir often while the cheese melts to keep it from burning. Alternatively, melt the cheese and milk in the microwave on high power for 2 minutes or until melted smooth, stirring halfway through cooking.

4. Reduce the heat on the slow cooker to low and cover the melted Velveeta. Serve the melted cheese warm for the best flavor as a sauce for vegetables or pasta. The milk added will keep it thin enough to remain in a melted state throughout the meal, even if you cannot serve the melted Velveeta hot from the slow cooker.
