If you have made a dump cake dessert dish for your friends or family to enjoy, then you must check it carefully to see if it is cooked and if the cherries are soft. Instructions
1. Keep your oven gloves on at all times. If you do not have oven gloves, then use pot holders to protect your hands from getting burnt. Some glass dishes can get extremely hot in the oven as well as any tin foil you have placed on top of the dish.
2. Take your dump cake dish out of the oven with oven gloves on and place it on a solid surface. Place a wooden cutting board on your counter before if you want to rest the dump cake dish on it. This board will make sure the glass dish does not burn or damage your counter.
3. Lift one corner of the tin foil off the edge of the dump cake dish carefully. Make sure that you keep your skin away from this end when you pull the cover off your dish. Allow the steam to disperse from the dish and let it sit for a few minutes.
4. Take the rest of the tin foil off the dump cake dessert dish and allow the rest of the steam to cool off. If your dish is extremely hot and the cherries are still boiling, then let the dish sit on the counter for 10 minutes.
5. Take a spoon and run it along one side of the dump cake dish. You should see a nice crust on top of the dish by now and the edges should be lightly brown. Stick the spoon in one side of the dish and check to see if the cherries are soft and juicy. Let the dish cool before you try to cut a piece.
