New York is home to 271 licensed vineyards and produced 45,000 tons of wine in 2008, according to the Agricultural Marketing Resource Center at Iowa State University. Membership in the New York Times Wine Club provides access to wines with international origins, from "family run, boutique" vineyards. Benefits include relevant articles from the New York Times with each delivery as well as expert tasting notes and recipe pairings. A 10 percent discount is offered to members on wine by the case, and memberships can be cancelled any time. Membership levels include a Times Sampler for "everyday" drinking ($90 for four red and two white bottles per shipment) and a Times Reserve for "special occasion" bottles or to enhance a collection ($180 for four red and two white bottles per shipment) in 2009. The New York Times Wine Club currently ships to 25 states and rates start at $19.95 for six bottles.

The New York Cork Club
Established by Lenn Thompson with Greene Grape Wine in Brooklyn, the Cork Club promotes and ships New York-produced wines. Lenn personally selects the two wines distributed each month and provides reviews on the Cork Club website. Monthly rates range from $35 to $60 in 2009, depending on the wines chosen, not including tax and shipping. Club founder Lenn Thompson emphasizes that many of the wines selected are "under-the-radar gems," or may only be available in winery tasting rooms.

Millbrook's Wine Club
Millbrook Winery in Millbrook, New York offers a monthly wine club membership. Millbrook Winery is located on 130 acres in the Hudson Valley, approximately 90 miles from New York City and Albany, and has been producing wine since 1984. The monthly wine club has options of two bottles of just red, just white,or one of each delivered for $45 to $60 per month, including tax and shipping. A case club membership is also automatically included, allowing members to receive 10 percent of wine club shipment pricing applied to a purchase credit account for future case purchases once the balance reaches $25.
