Make Basil Vinaigrette Dressing

Fresh basil adds intense flavor to homemade vinaigrette.

Vinaigrette combines oil and vinegar along with spices and herbs to create a salad dressing. Create tangy vinaigrette with fresh basil leaves. Serve the dressing over a salad or use it as a marinade for fish or chicken. Using high quality oil and wine vinegar will result in higher quality vinaigrette. Making your own basil vinaigrette dressing allows you to customize it to suit your tastes.

Instructions

1. Pour 1/3 cup of white wine vinegar, 2 tbsp. Dijon mustard and 3 peeled garlic cloves into a food processor.

2. Cover the processor to prevent the dressing from splattering. Pulse the food processor on and off until it mixes the ingredients well.

3. Add 3/4 cup of chopped basil leaves to the dressing. Pulse until the basil blends into the dressing.

4. Remove the cover from the food processor. Slowly add 1 cup of olive oil while the processor runs. Cup your hand over the open top to prevent the dressing from splattering too much.

5. Store the salad dressing in an airtight container inside the refrigerator. Use the dressing within one week.
