File A New Mexico Income Tax Return

File New Mexico state tax returns by mail or online


Residents, part-year residents and non-residents who work in New Mexico are required to file a New Mexico state income tax return if their standard deduction does not exceed the amount of their wages. State income tax returns in New Mexico can be filed by obtaining a copy of the return you need and mailing it to the New Mexico Taxation and Revenue offices or by electronically filing your return online.


Instructions








1. Choose from the list of electronic tax services available through the New Mexico Taxation and Revenue office.


2. Create a New Mexico e-filing service account. Enter your personal information and create a username and password. Once you've created an account, log in to file your tax return.


3. Answer the questions the online tax service asks, which includes entering your personal information as you'd like it shown on your tax return and all of your income and tax information for the tax year. Each New Mexico state return requires different information but all will need your personal, income and tax information for filing.








4. Electronically file your tax return once you've gone over your information to check for mistakes or errors. Click "Submit" and your return will be electronically mailed to the New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Office.
