You can find pom poms of all sizes at your local craft or fabric store. These colorful yarn puffs can be used in a variety of craft projects. One entertaining project that both children and adults can enjoy is making pom pom bugs.
Instructions
Lady Bugs
1. Attach five or six small pom poms to the back of a large red pom pom using a hot glue gun to make the lady bug's body.
2. Glue a medium black pom pom on the front of the body. This will be the lady bug's head.
3. Attach two wiggle eyes to the front of the medium black pom pom.
Spiders
4. Attach a medium pom pom to a large pom pom with hot glue. Choose two pom poms that are the same color, preferably black. This creates the spider's body and head. You'll use the larger pom pom for the spider's body and the smaller pom pom for the head.
5. Add two wiggle eyes to the head of the spider.
6. Cut two 12-inch black pipe cleaners into eight equal pieces. These will be used for the spider's legs. Bend them each 1 inch from the end to make a right angle.
7. Glue the shorter end of the bent legs to the spider's body.
Ants
8. Attach three medium-sized black or red medium pom poms together in a straight line for the ant's head and body.
9. Glue wiggle eyes to the ant's head.
10. Cut a red or black 12-inch pipe cleaner into eight equal pieces to make the ant's legs and antennae.
11. Glue six of the pipe cleaners to the ant's body. Attach two pipe cleaners to the top of the ant's head for the antennae.
Caterpillars
12. Glue four medium-sized pom poms together in a straight line. You can use the same color or four different-colored pom poms.
13. Attach a large pom pom to the end of the pom pom chain for the caterpillar's head.
14. Glue wiggle eyes to the front of the caterpillar's head. Use a small pom pom as a nose, if desired.
15. Attach two small pom poms to each of the four body segments of the caterpillar, one on each of the bottom sides of the pom poms for the feet.
