Restore A Popcorn Popper

Popcorn poppers are small appliances that operate at high temperatures. High cooking temperatures can burn oil and butter on the inside where the popcorn is popped and on the outside if oil and butter drip on the appliance. When burned oil and butter build up on the inside of the appliance, it takes longer for the oil to heat to a temperature hot enough to pop the popcorn. Restoring a popcorn popper usually requires a thorough cleaning.

Instructions

1. Unplug the popcorn popper from the wall outlet. Ensure the appliance is cool before you begin restoration. Remove all popcorn and kernels from the machine.

2. Clean the exterior of the popcorn popper with a soft cloth and an ammonia-free glass cleaner. For tougher stains or burnt-on butter, use a soft cloth and a scratch-free cleanser. Popcorn poppers that are heavily soiled with burnt-on butter or oil can be cleaned with a stronger carbon cleaner. Allow the carbon cleaner to soak on the tough soiled areas for about 15 to 20 minutes. Wipe away all cleaning residue with a damp cloth when finished removing burnt-on butter and oil.

3. Clean the inside of the popcorn popper with mild dish detergent and a soft cloth. Use a plastic scouring pad to remove burnt on oil and butter. Rinse the inside of the appliance thoroughly to remove all soap and cleanser residue from inside the popper.

4. Dry the popcorn popper completely using a clean soft cloth. Dry the inside of the popper thoroughly. Make sure the electrical cord is clean and dry.
