Lots of people love Subway sandwiches. They're delicious, and you can put anything on them that you like. They're perfect for either a lunchtime meal, a picnic or a quick weeknight dinner. However, instead of driving to the restaurant and spending money on sandwiches made by someone else, you can easily build your own.
Instructions
1. Make a foot-long sandwich roll. Remove the refrigerated dough from its packaging and place it on a baking sheet. Brush with melted butter. Add a light sprinkling of herbs if you like your sandwiches to have some zest to them. Bake until the bread is a nice golden brown color and allow it to cool completely.
2. Cut the sandwich roll. To do this the way they do at Subway, make a V-shaped incision along the top, removing a wedge-shaped portion of the bread.
3. Place your favorite meat toppings on the open bread. Use pepperoni, ham, turkey, pastrami or even meatballs.
4. Add a layer of cheese. Choose from provolone, American, cheddar or muenster.
5. Layer vegetables on top of the cheese. Slice up some pickles, green peppers, onions, lettuce, tomato and hot peppers.
6. Add condiments last. Use your choice of mustard, mayonnaise, oil, vinegar or Italian dressing. Top it off with a bit of salt and pepper. Close the sandwich, cut it in half, and serve. If you like, add a helping of chips and a soft drink.
