Cook Miracle Noodles Zero Calorie Pasta

no carb noodles

That's right. It's not a hoax. You can buy and prepare noodles that are tasty and have great texture with absolutely NO CALORIES!!!

Pasta made from the root of the konjac plant are all fiber and water. They don't have a distinctive flavor of thier own, but readily absorb flavors of condiments, sauces, spices or broth used in preparation. They are filling and satisfy your carb cravings.

Noodles made of the konjac root help to regulate blood glucose levels and add valuable fiber to the diet. They are also called glucomannan noodles or shirataki noodles.

Instructions

1. Find the noodles.

Konjac root noodles are available online. See links for sources.

The noodles are also available at many Asian grocery stores, at a lower price than online. Safeway grocery stores have also begun offering konjac root noodles.

2. Prepare to cook the noodles. The konjac root noodles are packaged in water, available in your grocer's refrigerated section. Open the bag of noodles. WARNING: The noodles are going to smell fishy. It's rather odd, but don't let it put you off. Pour the noodles in a strainer and rinse well for a couple minutes. All of the smell will be gone. Put the noodles in a saucepan with fresh water and boil for 3 or 4 minutes. This makes the noodles firm and noodley. Strain.

3. Heat about a tablespoon of sesame oil in the wok or large frying pan. Add the garlic and ginger, a teaspoon or so of each, depending on how much you plan to make. Go easy at first. It is easier to add spices than to take them away. Add chicken and cook quickly, while stirring, for about 5 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked thoroughly. Add scallions, cabbage and water chestnuts. Stir fry a minute or two until they are only partially cooked.

4. Stir in the cooked noodles. Toss, while frying, for a couple minutes. Pour in chicken broth and a little soy sauce. Taste and adjust flavor with soy sauce, as desired.
