Store Bruschetta

Bruschetta toppings can be simple or complex.

Bruschetta, a slice of bread toasted on both sides and drizzled with olive oil, garlic and sometimes added toppings, is often made to utilize stale bread. The word bruschetta is derived from the Italian verb, bruscare, which means "to roast over coals." The way you store bruschetta will depend on if you've made it in advance for serving within a limited time period, or if you are storing leftovers that won't be eaten immediately.

Instructions

1. Cool the bruschetta completely, and place it in an airtight container with a lid. This will prevent it from becoming soggy.

2. Leave the bruschetta out on the counter, at room temperature, if you plan to serve it within two hours. Place it in the refrigerator if you don't plan on serving for more than two hours to avoid harmful bacteria growth on the food. Place in the refrigerator within one hour if the temperature is 90 degrees Fahrenheit or above.

3. Discard leftover bruschetta, stored in an airtight container, after 48 to 72 hours due to perishable ingredients. Discard it if it smells odd after any length of storage time, because it could be spoiled.
