Homemade Cereal Flakes

Homemade cereal flakes are healthy and natural.

Whole grain cereal flakes are high in vitamins and fiber and are commonly eaten as a breakfast food. Although you can purchase cereal flakes from a grocery store or supermarket, they can sometimes contain unwanted ingredients, such as high fructose corn syrup or artificial flavoring. One alternative is to make your own homemade cereal flakes from natural ingredients. This will allow you to avoid eating any unwanted or unhealthy substances.

Instructions

1. Combine 2 cups of bran, 2 cups of whole wheat flour, 1/2 cup of dry milk and 1 tsp. of salt in a bowl. Mix well.

2. Combine 1/4 cup olive oil, 1 Tbsp. molasses and 1 cup of water in a separate bowl. Mix well.

3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix well.

4. Pour the dough onto a greased cookie sheet.

5. Roll the dough on the sheet with a rolling pin to make a very thin layer.

6. Bake the dough layer in a 350 degree Fahrenheit oven for 20 minutes. The layer should be golden brown and crisp.

7. Allow the layer to cool completely.

8. Crumble the layer into flakes with your hands over a bowl.
