Converting water into soda with home carbonation saves you money on buying soda water or seltzer. One 20-pound tank of carbon dioxide fills more than 500 2-liter bottles. Make your own soda water at home and you also reduce your amount of waste because you buy fewer plastic containers.
Instructions
1. Slide one end of the braided vinyl tubing over the carbon dioxide tank valve. Tighten the hose and hold it in place with a hose clamp.
2. Place the air chuck into the other end of the hose. The air chuck is the device you use to fill objects with different gases. Tighten the hose to the air chuck with the other hose clamp.
3. Drill a 1/2-inch hole through the top of the 2-liter bottle's cap. Slide the top piece of the tire valve into the hole. Place the back piece of the tire valve inside the cap. Secure it to the stem of the top piece, locking them together.
4. Fill the 2-liter bottle 3/4 of the way full with tap or filtered water. Loosely place the cap onto the bottle. Squeeze any air out of the bottle. Tighten the cap onto the bottle.
5. Place the air chuck onto the tire valve. Turn the carbon dioxide on. Allow the gas to fill the bottle for 20 seconds. Shake the bottle as it fills. Turn the gas off and shake the bottle for 20 seconds more to stabilize the pressure.
6. Remove the chuck and cap and enjoy the soda water.
