Store Potato Salad

Store leftover potato salad to enjoy later.

If you have leftover homemade or store-bought potato salad after a picnic or holiday party, store it in a refrigerator properly to prevent contamination from a food-borne illness. Storing the potato salad correctly will also ensure the best flavor and texture. You can save money by serving the leftover potato salad as part of a meal later in the week. The salad typically doesn't freeze well as the mayonnaise may break down and the potatoes can become gritty, so plan on using it within a few days.

Instructions

1. Transfer the potato salad into a moisture-proof plastic storage container featuring a secure, air-tight lid.

2. Wipe off any potato salad or moisture from around the container's rim using a clean cloth or paper towel. Press the lid onto the plastic container tightly.

3. Write the storage date on a piece of masking tape using a marker, and place the masking tape onto the container.

4. Store the potato salad in a refrigerator set between 34 and 40 degrees F for up to three days.
