Use food coloring to tint Easter eggs.
Food coloring can be used in foods and in craft projects, too. Use it to celebrate St. Patrick's Day with green mashed potatoes, make homemade colored play dough, tint pasta crafts and more. It is easy to use and nontoxic. You don't have to settle for the four colors that come in the box -- food coloring can be mixed, just like paint, to create custom colors.
Instructions
1. Protect your clothing, skin and work surface since food coloring can stain.
2. Multiply the proportions of these color formulas for larger batches or more intense colors: for turquoise blue, use 4 drops of blue and 1 drop of green; make brown with 5 drops red, 6 drops yellow and 3 drops green; purple is 1 drop red and 1 drop blue; create lime green with 3 drops yellow and 1 drop green; pistachio green is 1 drop yellow and 4 drops green; make orange with 2 drops red and 3 drops yellow; for peach, use 1 drop red and 2 drops yellow; for salmon, use 3 drops red and 2 drops yellow; and for black, combine equal amounts of all colors.
3. Experiment with other color combinations to create just the right shade for your project.
