A regular cake becomes a work of art when baked in a Bundt pan. The best thing about Bundt cakes is that you don't have to alter your favorite cake recipe to make one. You can use a standard boxed cake mix to achieve a very pretty result. The key is in the presentation. Here are some tips for frosting a Bundt cake quickly and easily.
Instructions
1. Bake your cake. Follow the instructions on the recipe, paying close attention to the cooking times listed for a Bundt pan. Mix the dry mix with the wet ingredients and set aside in a bowl. Grease your Bundt pan liberally, and pour the cake mix into the pan, making sure it is evenly distributed in the pan. Cook according to package directions.
2. Prepare to decorate. Take the cake out of the oven and set it on a cooling rack to cool completely (usually for an hour or two). Make sure to leave the cake in the pan during the cooling process. Once your cake is cooled, get your platter out and turn the Bundt pan upside down. With a bit of gentle wiggling, the cake should slide gently out of the mold and onto the platter.
3. Get your icing ready. If you're using store-bought frosting, remove the plastic lid and inner foil lining, then heat the plastic container in the microwave for 10 seconds and stir with a butter knife. Repeat the process two more times, until the icing begins to thin out a bit.
4. Ice your cake. Pour the warm icing over the top of the cake, letting it dribble down the sides.
5. Decorate. Finish up your cake with a light dusting of powdered sugar.
