Wineries around Massanutten, Virginia open their doors to the public for wine tastings.
Virginia's mild climate and rich soil is perfect for grape growing, and has led to it becoming known for its rich and thriving grape harvests. There are over 150 wineries in Virginia, mostly located in the eastern part of the state. In the northern part of the state between Maryland and West Virginia, near the town of Massanutten, there are several wineries open to the public throughout the year.
Cross Keys Vineyards
The Cross Keys Vineyard is located in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley 12 miles from Massanutten. The vineyard is open to the public and hosts regular wine tastings, tours and special events. Cross Keys makes both red and white wines, including Chardonnay, Vidal Blanc, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Franc. The 2008 Cross Keys Cabernet Franc was the recipient of a Double Gold and Best in Varietal award. The tasting room is open daily from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Misty Ray Winery
The Misty Ray Winery is located 10 miles north of Massanutten in Harrisonburg. The winery is open for tastings by appointment only. Tastings can be scheduled by either emailing or calling the winery directly. Some of the signature wines created by Misty Ray include the Holiday wine, a fruit filled wine with ingredients such as rhubarb. The Cabernet Sauvignon Rose is created by removing the juice form the Cabernet Sauvignon as it passes through the crusher. The Miss Doreen Blanc is a desert wine with spices and herbs.

Stone Mountain Vineyards
The Stone Mountain Vineyard is located just 20 miles southeast of Massanutten in the town of Dyke. It is located approximately 1,700 feet on top of the Blue Ridge Mountains and has a view of the countryside from its wine tasting areas. Stone Mountain Vineyard's signature wines include a Cabernet Franc, a Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio Blend, a Cabernet Savignon and a Chardonnay. Stone Mountain Vineyards' Cabernet Franc Reserve 2001 won the Bronze Medal 2003 Virginia Governors Cup and the Bronze Medal 2003 Tasters Guild at the International Wine Judging. The winery is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. during the season, from March through December.
