Who wants to start the day with a hot cup of coffee when it's 90 degrees F outside? Iced coffee drinks are a great way to keep cool during the summer months, but buying these iced drinks every day can become expensive in a hurry. Here is an easy way to make an iced vanilla latte.
Instructions
1. Place at least two shots of espresso into your espresso carafe. Most carafes will have lines with numbers on the inside indicating the amount of espresso needed. By putting at least two shots of espresso into the carafe, you can guarantee that you'll have brewed enough espresso for at least one iced vanilla latte.
2. Fill your glass carafe with enough water to brew the number of espresso shots you are making. In other words, if you filled your espresso carafe up to the number “two,” fill your glass carafe to the same numbered line.
3. Dump that water into your espresso maker. Turn your espresso machine on to begin the brewing process. Let the espresso completely finish brewing before removing the glass carafe.
4. Let the hot espresso sit for about 15 to 20 minutes in order to cool. If you're in a hurry, empty out at least one shot of espresso into an 8 oz. thermal mug and place the mug into your freezer for 5 to 10 minutes so that it cools.
5. Once one shot of espresso is into your mug, add roughly 1 tbs. of vanilla syrup to the espresso. You can add slightly more or less, depending on how much vanilla you wish to taste.
6. Fill the remainder of your cup with milk, leaving about 1/2 inch of room in the cup for ice. You can mix the drink if you desire using a spoon or other mixer but it is not necessary to do so.
7. Add two or more ice cubes to the mixture to finish your iced vanilla latte.
