A chain of Asian restaurants, Pei Wei serves fast cuisine to diners in cities across the United States. One of the dishes on their menu, Japanese-style teriyaki combines meat, vegetables and rice with a tasty sauce.Teriyaki sauce blends sweet and salty in a flavorful condiment. Instructions
1. Combine 1 cup soy sauce, 1/2 cup water, garlic, ginger, brown sugar, molasses and orange zest in the saucepan.
2. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat. Whisk together the cornstarch and remaining 1/4 cup water.
3. Pour the combined cornstarch and water into the boiling sauce mixture. Reduce the heat to medium.
4. Continue to heat the sauce mixture for 5 minutes at a simmer, whisking the entire time, until slightly thickened. Remove sauce from heat, and let it stand while it continues to thicken. Whisk in 1 to 2 tbsp. water if the mixture becomes too thick for use.
